Kaivalya Navaneetham is a very famous tamil vedanta text written by Sri Thandavaraya Swamigal. Kaivalyam means dispassion or retreating to one’s true nature and navaneetham means butter. Just like when from a milk, we make curd, and then churn the curd to get better, so we should approach a guru, who will teach us the vedanta shastram. The shastram then is continuously churned by the individual (sranvanam, mananam) to get the curd state. Finally by nidhidhyasanam, one churns the shastram further to get butter which is white and pure.

பெற்றியின் உலகோர் பேரின்பம் அடையக்

கிளரும் வேதாந்த கீரோ ததியைத்

தளர்வு அறு சமாதித் தாழியின் நிறைத்திட்டு

அகமறு விசார அனலில் காய்ச்சி

மகிழ்குரு வாக்கிய மத்தால் கடைந்து

ஞான கைவல்ய நவநீதத்தை

ஆனபே ரன்பின் அளித்தனன்

வேதாந்த பாற்கடலை சமாதித் தாழியால் நிறைத்து விசாரத் தீயில்

காய்ச்சி, குருவாக்கிய மத்தால் கடைந்து, ப்ரஹ்ம ஞானம் விளக்கும்

கைவல்ய நவநீதம் படைக்க பட்டதாம் .
